Hi
I am just after a wee bit of information.
I am currently 17 months into a Protected trust deed. However, as of the start of April, I will become unemployed. ๐
I have a friend who owns a hotel in Greece and has offered me a job!!! ๐ (Think its easier getting work abroad than in the UK these days)
I was wondering if I could still pay into a protected trust deed whilst working abroad.
The only thing of concern is that a lot of jobs abroad are 'cash in hand' (so to speak). Can I still pay into a protected trust deed whilst earning cash in hand?
I know a lot of Trustees require wage slips etc, but if its cash in hand, I am guessing this wont be possible to provide.
If they dont allow me to carry on with it and they put me into Sequestration, can this be done whilst I am abroad, or do I need to come back to the UK for the hearing?
Any advice will be appreciated! Thank you very much!
Hello reduntildead,
There is nothing to stop you working overseas and continuing with your Trust Deed.
If you are concerned about evidencing your income you should discuss this with your Trustee in advance.
I'm sure your Trustee would prefer that your Trust Deed is completed succesfully and will work with you to find a way forwards.
Hi TDA.
Thanks for that. I have also been in contact with the CAB and they said the same.
They say that although the job will be cash in hand. If I can find a way of putting this money into my UK account so that my PTD can continue then my Trustee should be happy. As apparently they would rather try and keep the PTD running if possible. Which should be if I can transfer money from abroad to my UK account.
I have also been told today that I can open a Deposit account with a Greek bank which will allow me to do this.
