hi,
I have been in a trust deed since november 2010. My wife is now being chased for one of the debts by hfc. The forms for the loan were signed by both of us, she is now a pensioner with minimum government pension and little or no chance of repayment. We do not know where to go from here and would welcome any sugestions.
The loan was for £25,000 over 7 years unsecured. We have paid faithfully for 6 years and have been unable to pay the last year which amounts to £6,000.
thank you for an interesting forum.

If the HFC loan was a "joint loan" (which it sounds like it might be if you both signed the forms) they are entitled to seek full repayment of the balance from your wife.
If that's the case, and she isn't in a position to make the payments required, she may now also need to review the options that are open to her to deal with this and any other debts that she has.
Would your wife be able to make any level of payment towards the debt?
