We are four weeks away from finding out if we will be protected. We have been told by KPMG to now stop paying our creditors and now we are getting all the letters and phone calls from them demanding we pay.
Can someone tell me what i should now be saying to them. I mentioned to one of them that we will be entering a trust deed but they refused to listen and then became very pushy for payment.
Help please to save us from all the phone calls and letters.
thanks
lee
I just told them it was out of my hands now and if they were not happy i gave them TD company number.
Worked for me and i actually enjoyed being able to answer the phone again!!
All the best and good luck
Don't let them push for payment, just tell them the way it is, you've signed a trust deed and they will receive notice from your trustee. If they persist after that, just reiterate the situation, tell them you tried to be obliging by taking the call but now your going to end the call and then hang up. Some companies don't know what a td is so ask them, if they don't know tell them its the equivelant to an iva. If they call you again just tell them to read the notes on your account,I actually had one company apologise for calling me again. Also if they get really pushy, just waste their time and then hang up, i had a few interesting conversations lol

Tell them 'I am now in a protected trust deed. This is being managed by KPMG. Please contact (insert name here) on (insert phone number here) to discuss my account with you and my situation further, Thank you.' then hang up.

In the initial about 4 months after signing my trust deed I got tons of calls and letters from creditors. I let my trustee know everytime esp since when i got each call would tell them im in a trust deed so here is the trustee info. I think my trustee was getting fed up with them too lol. It does finally settle down and it takes time for all the creditors to finally get the message. It really does get better ...
I found I didn't get calls till after I was protected. All my payments were up to date so all I got was the usual 'You haven't sent this months payment' or 'we haven't been able to take the direct debit' letters. Once I was protected, a bit more time had passed and the calls started. Lloyds TSB were alright, so were Egg and Northern Rock. Neither were that persistant. Santander (Cahoot at the time) and Barclays were always calling or sending letters. The debt went round various agencies, each one saying 'we have taken over your debt, please call us'. Mercers are probably the most persistant. It all died down after 6 months. You'll get through it and keep contacting the trustee.

I signed a week and half ago and letters and calls coming fast ...I have to say I feel quite liberated and happy to refer all calls and letters to trustee and very firm re calls being short and sweet.I even have my phone on now !! hope this helps
Tell them another call and you'll report them for harassament under the telecoms act.
Thanks everyone for the information.
