I am just waiting for my form 5 to come in and came late to this forum. I wish I had found it earlier.

My advivce for anyone wanting to start a TD is that on the whole it can be a good thing but choose your trustee well. I started my TD with one of the three companies named on this website (I won't name names) and it has be be said has not been the least bit pleasant. I wrote and told them of a great personal bereavement and a change in circumstance and not only did they never write to say "we are sorry at your loss but we need to discuss your change in circumstances(which would have been fair enough)) - they just kept saying you agreed to pay this money and we do not care how you pay for the funeral (I still have the letter and email). I specifically wrote and asked them to send mail in a plain envelope because of where I was living - did they hell - kept sending letters where you could plainly see "to all the creditors of my name" in a named envelope. Ended up homeless because of that one (long story but that was the outcome).

So my advice TD good thing - Trustees choose with very great care. Try talking to someone about their experience with their trustee if you can - never easy but well worth it in the end.

Hi Thickasmince.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience during some difficult times wasn't positive.

Personal recommendations certainly are a useful tool when making decisions about which service providers (of any type) to use.
