Asked in an earlier question what would happen to husbands reduncancy in relation to our trust deed. Can you tell me if he would be allowed to take voluntary redundancy and what the consequences would be?
Many thanks
Hello again cbarcl,
Your husband can take voluntary redundancy if he wishes to. I don't think that it makes much difference to the trust deed whether the redundancy is compulsory or voluntary and therefore the answer to your previous question remains valid:

The second aspect to this though is that I think you have around a year of the trust deed left?
Do you think it likely that your husband will get back into work fairly soon?
Is the sum on offer to him substantial? Is it enough that it would have cleared the debts for example?
Have 26 weeks of trust deed left. Although sum quite substantial I don't think it will quite clear off all of the outstanding debt
The issue might be how the remainder of the trust deed payments would be completed if your husband was not in work.
Depending upon the terms of the redundancy package a sum may have to be paid into the trust deed as previously mentioned.
In terms of what this might all mean for a trust deed it becomes very difficult to speculate as the Trustee has some discretion.
With that in mind I think that the best thing to do would be for your husband to contact his Trustee and talk through what the implications of potentially taking voluntary redundancy might be based upon the actual figures involved.
