Hi Valfreya.
Barclays offer a free basic bank account to people that are bankrupt. If you don't owe that bank money it might be worth looking at.
There are also paid-for options with the likes of Thinkmoney or card accounts like ClearCash that pretty much do everything that a bank account does.
There are rules against using credit until you have been discharged from bankruptcy, and you're likely to find it difficult to get credit for a while afterwards as well.
Going joint on your husbands current bank account might leave it at risk of being closed down if you subsequently become bankrupt. Probably best to keep your financial affairs somewhat separate at the moment.
Ok. My husband has an appointment with Barclays for the inquiring about his account and adding me to it. I will ask them if it possible to open a new basic account, instead.
I just want to be sure, I won't be able to get ANY credit, until I am in a better financial place anyway. I don't want to find my self in a position, even remotely close to this again.
Thank you for all you help.
