Hi,entered in a protected trust deed Nov 2011. The original duration was to be 3 years. At the end of the third year and expected discharge, we were told that the car which had was an asset and a further payment of over ยฃ3000 was required. Assuming this was corect we continued to make 12 more monthly payment to cover the car value. We were then told this assessment was incorrect and all monies refunded and discharge from the trust deed was granted in January 2016, over year later than the expected due to their error. It is now Feb 2107 and the Trustee has still not being discharged. Can you please tell me if these sort of timescales are to be expected and how much longer I can expect to wait befor the trustee is discharge as only then do I see closure.

Thanks

Maybe worth a phone call to your trustee ? I was discharged in April 2016 and my trustee discharged himself 2 months later

It can sometimes take a while, usually down to the faff with PPI. I was discharged in March 2014. I knew I had no PPI to claim but the trustee still wasn't discharged until October 2016.

Welcome to the forum freeatlast16.

Probably not the answer that you're hoping to hear, but the trustee really isn't under any obligation to you to secure their own discharge here.

Their obligation was to discharge you having completed the obligations that you agreed to.

More positively, the fact that your trustee hasn't been discharged really shouldn't hold you back from anything in practical terms. Do you consider that it has?

Hi freeatlast16.

I understand that this is about closure for you.

The trustee isn't going to seek their own discharge until all of their work is done. Sometimes aspects of completing this work are somewhat out of their control, so it can take some time. It may well not be your trustee dragging their feet - they might be waiting for another party which is then causing the delays.

In terms of practicalities the fact that you have been discharged, but your trustee has not, need not hold you back.
