Thank you but I do not know what AIB is nor do I know Pinalta. Can you please clarify
Hi BobMac,
The AIB is the Accountant in Bankruptcy - Scotland's Insolvency Service. Their website is very informative. They supervise the trust deed process.
Pinalta is another member of this forum. When signed into the forum you can use the search function (link above) to find and read the posts/threads Mark is referring to if you want to.
I have made a complaint to AIB about both TurnDebtAround and Invocas and they are going to contact them and look into my complaint and get back to me when they have looked at all the information
TurnDebtAround made an original claim for PPI against Bank of Scotland but this was refused by BOS. TurnDebtAround told me that they do not appeal any decisions so i decided to write and appeal myself. Bank of Scotland wrote to me and stated that they had relooked into my case and decided to change their decision and awarded me £7,500. They also said that this was because I had appealed not TurnDebtAround. However TurnDebtAround have taken a fee of 25% plus VAT which amounts to £2,250 although they did no work. How can this be fair and legal?
BOBMAC if I can help in any way let me know , you should also make a complaint to the firms governing body to . I have had the same problem with blatant fee building and the AIB upheld my complaint and reduced his fees by 13k . My complaint against him is on going because not its personal not business that is why I am still fighting , Mark devoted many hours of work to help me , so if I can return the favour in kind its good karma .
You should also consider making a request under the freedom of information act to the AIB to see how many times fees have been reduced , I did and it provided clear evidence of charging for work never needed or done for a total of 143k over two years and involving 83 different cases , I add that other firms who contribute to this forum have never had a fee reduction , some covering 26 years of practice .[:0]
Hi BobMac,
We can't answer the "legal" question as it falls outside of our training and expertise.
Whether or not it's "fair" is subjective I suppose but I think many readers would understand why you're questioning whether it is.
As Mark explained earlier in this thread, you have the option to get the fees audited if you feel strongly about this.
Thanks for the advice. I have passed my complaint over to the AIB as both Invocas and TurnDebtAround refuse to answer any of my questions. Will keep you in the loop on developments
