I am asking this on behalf of a friend.

My friend had a payment plan over 3 years but continued to make payments after this date as she trusted the company to stop taking payments after completion.

She paid a total of 10 extra monthly payments.

Can she get this money back from them?, as it was a mistake on her behalf she thinks she will be unsucessful.

thanks

lee

We're they taken or given lee1974?

A company takes a direct debit from you.

If you have a standing order it's you instructing your bank to pay the beneficiary and only you can stop the payment.

Irrespective, if the money wasn't due under the obligations of the trust deed it should be returned.

Hi lee1974,

If there has been an overpayment made then this should be refunded to your friend. All your friend should have paid was what was agreed at the outset i.e. 36 payments of ยฃ200.

Every so often one of our Trust Deed's run on or two months longer and we either issue a cheque to the client or make a bank transfer directly to them for the overpayment.

Tell your friend to give their Trustee a call to advise them and ask for the overpayment back.

10 months extra payments should be a nice refund to have.
