Hiya, many thanks for your answer to my previous post. I have looked into why I cant get a mortgage and spoke to a mortgage advisor just over the telephone, and when looking at both my and my husbands credit file our trust deed hasnt been closed off, even though it finished in 2008. SOme on my husbands credit file are still default and not settled, and both trusts are still live. WHat can I do about this? OUr trust went through French Duncan? Me being niave just thought that they would sort everything out....obviously not!

thanks again

Hello JOJO,

None of us are experts on credit files I'm afraid.

Having said that I don't think it is unusual that unsatisfied defaults would remain on your credit file after a Scottish Trust Deed is completed.

It isn't part of French Duncan's responsibilities to manage the content of your credit record. You may however wish to confirm with them that all the closure formalities were completed.

You can approach the credit reference agencies, and the lenders themselves, with a view to correcting any errors on your credit file.
