Just wondering if my trust deed ends 3 years(as agreed) after signing which in my case would be next month or after final payment, which was originally due to be paid in January 2015, but now is February due to arrears of 1 month?

Just curious.

Hi rodney.

From your perspective your trust deed will end when you're discharged.

Your trustee will not be able to do that until you've completed your obligations. Exactly what those obligations are is something only your trustee can tell you, but a missed payment is likely to have to be replaced normally.

Thank you for your prompt reply, TDA. On a Sat night too!

I missed a payment and had hoped to make it up later due to a change in wage payment dates, but was informed by my trustee that I could not do that, the trust deed would be extended by 1 month instead. Is that normal practice? Not that I'm complaining as i would not have been able to pay it back before then anyway.
Really struggling to get to finish line, some arrears building up in rent and council tax, but determined to get there.

Good for you rodney, but your rent and council tax really need to be prioritised over and above your trust deed payment.

What's causing the pressure on these essential payments? Has anything changed with your circumstances?

my income dropped at end of last year, despite a pay rise, as my son was no longer at school so lost tax credits and child benefit. He was not working so had no income and could not sign on due to age(under 18) My trustees saw pay rise and increased my payments! Had to send lengthy letter with income/ expenditure and some very personal details which I'd rather not go into here. They replied as though they were doing me a favour by reducing payment to previous amount. I'm only managing by selling on a certain auction site just about anything I can find that I have left of my personal possessions and spending hours and hours each day doing paid surveys online for a pittance, but every pound is a prisoner as they say.

Hi rodney.

I'd really strongly suggest reworking all of this with your trustee again. Something seems to have gone wrong with the calculations.

Even if your trust deed has to run a little longer, your rent and council tax really need to be fully paid as a priority above your trust deed payment. If that's not possible just now your trustee should want to resolve the problem with you.

There's nothing to be lost by bringing it up rodney.

I hope you do. You shouldn't be in this position.

Hi rodney,

Even although the end is in sight for you if you are financially struggling and you have rent and council tax arrears then you want to speak with your Trustee about reducing the payment.

The Trust Deed should be a way of getting yourself out of debt without getting yourself back into it to try and meet your payment when your circumstances have changed and income reduced.

For anyone else if you are financially struggling because of a change in income then the first thing you should do is speak with your Trustee about this. As TDA has said there is nothing to be lost by speaking with your relationship manager or Trustee.

If you do speak with your Trustee rodney let us know how you get on.
