Hi - looking for some advice. I was discharged during November 2015 and recently contacted my TD regarding their potential discharge. Was surprised to be told this was being held up with PPI reclaim as I have never had PPI. Furthermore, I agreed during year 2 of my TD for them to appoint someone to check for potential PPI and that came back clear. I expressed my surprise when on the phone but was told this was standard procedure - can anyone offer any advice to get them moving? Thanks in advance.

Hi MooMoo.

I'm afraid that there may not be much that you can do here. Your trustee has apparently met their obligation to you by discharging you (after you had completed your obligations to your trust deed).

The thing is though, your trustee not being discharged shouldn't be holding you back in any way. It's your discharge that is far more important and which allows you to move forwards again.

Thanks TDA - of course you are right, but does this not delay the removal from the register on AIB website? I thought it remained here for a year after TD discharge? I know that this really doesn't make a difference, but I'm keen to keep my credit file/records as up-to-date as possible.

You're correct MooMoo - the entry disappears one year after trustee discharge.

In terms of your credit file however the only important discharge is your own. Trustee discharge need make no difference.
