Hi ScotsLad,

I also think it's a very good letter and I can't think of anything to add.

Good luck and fingers crossed for you.

Please let us know how you get on.

Update on outcome.

Just got off the phone with Vetting who have run another check today and all my creditors have updated my file and I have a "clean" credit file. In fact, I just looked myself and I now have a score higher than the national average!!

They have overturned the original decision to reject vetting and I'm back in the recruitment process. [:)]

I've never worked so hard in the last few weeks to get my credit file in order but it just goes to show you shouldn't let your financial history have an affect on your life today.

Another lesson I learned is that it doesn't need to be a long process to get your file sorted, it's been just over 3 weeks for me and it's all fixed.

Thanks to all for you help and maybe in future this thread can offer hope to others in a similar boat.

ScotsLad!

Well done.

And remember all the folk that helped if you catch them speeding!

Hi ScotLad,

This is fantastic news and I'm really pleased for you.

Well done for being persistent with the creditors and credit reference agencies. I'm sure it's been a long couple of weeks trying to deal with it and the worry.

It's also good to see the police taking a sensible approach to your application and reasons for the old defaults.

I spoke with a person last night who is a student with £12,000 of debts (with defaults on their credit file) who had applied to the police recently. They too were rejected because of their financial status and it made me think of your circumstances. Unfortunately unlike you they had no way of cleaning up their credit file and are now having to look at a plan to clear their debts and then consider applying in a few years' time.

I have a couple of friends who are in the police force and love the job.

Best of luck with the rest of the application process. Please keep us up to date and let us know how you get on.

Hi ScotsLad.

That's wonderful - congratulations to you on your hard work and perseverance with both your creditors and your prospective new employer.
