Just had it confirmed from David Mond that he is to appeal the recent court decision regarding PPI, to the Supreme Court, so looks like we still have a bit to go until the end of this saga.

And it rumbles on.

I feel for those still in limbo.

To add Bert - has he been given leave to appeal or is he attempting to get permission?

I've checked the Supreme Court website and it looks like this is just an application to appeal as there have been no applications since May. In May the court only granted 2 out of 12 applications so this might be the last throw of the dice

Leaves us in limbo again tinsoldier, but I've waited 9 months so far, so another couple won't matter, just more interest to gain if this appeal is unsuccessful I guess#128514;#128514;

This is on their website

Unless one of the courts listed in the Role of The Supreme Court section has made an order affecting you, you will not be able to take your case to The Supreme Court. Furthermore, not all orders made by lower courts can be appealed to The Supreme Court.

Only after this court has refused to grant you permission to appeal against its judgment can you then apply to The Supreme Court.

In most cases, to bring an appeal to The Supreme Court, you must first apply to the court which handed down the judgment to ask for permission to appeal.

For more details on the circumstances under which it is possible to bring an appeal to The Supreme Court see A guide to bringing a case to The Supreme Court.

This is off the supreme court page :

"No appeal may be taken to the Supreme Court against any decision of a Lord Ordinary." If you read the decision from the Inner Court of Session this is what is on the page of the Doneen v Mond case .

Thought it took 8 weeks to decide whether to grant leave to appeal? Hopefully I'm wrong

Someone posted that they had until the 17th, but perhaps that was to consider an appeal?

I really don't know - perhaps our experts have a better idea? Although it's more of a legal question I think.

I think the 17th was the final day to lodge an application to appeal. Someone has already posted that Mond has told him directly that this is what they intend to do? That was my reading of it!

Yes that's correct I think - but he still has to get permission to appeal.

Certainly seems to have deep pockets.
