Hi, my Trust Deed finished in November 2020 but I have today received a letter from MBNA. Any idea how I deal with this?

Hi SunnyM.

Firstly, this is nothing for you to worry about. There's nothing they can do if you've been discharged from a protected trust deed in which they were a creditor.

We often hear of creditors not updating their records after someone has been discharged.

I'd suggest contacting MBNA and advising them about your status and requiring them to promptly update their records and your credit record. You can make a complaint if they do not (amongst other things, this is a data protection issue).

They might want proof so have a copy of your Form 5 (discharge) ready to share with them could be useful. Alternatively, it sounds like your record will still be on the Register of Insolvencies and will include the date of your discharge. You could guide them to this on a phone call.

Hi TDA thanks so much for this. I shall write to them and ask them to update their records. One thing I was struggling with was trying to find my details on the Register of Insolvencies.

Hi SunnyM,

It should be there if your discharge was in November.

This page might help if you're struggling to find your entry there:
