Hi guys
I just wanted to drop by and let off a little steam.
While self-employment is fantastic in some respects (mainly freedom) it does mean that your income is up and down and actually quite unpredictable. Every day is either a pay-day or it's a no-pay-day and you never know which it's going to be when you get up in the morning.
During difficult economic times, the peaks and troughs seem higher/deeper than ever I'm finding. Sales can be great for weeks then die literally overnight and not pick up again until the next month.
So what does this have to do with trust deeds?
When setting up a trust deed, they look at your average income over the last 6 months to work out your TD payment. But, by definition, taking an average means that some months your income will be higher and some months it will be lower.
We have just had one of those low months and I've had to write to my trustee explaining why I missed May's payment and re-affirming them that I'm totally committed to make this thing work within the agreed timescales. I truly hope they believe me and understand how much I want this to work.
So please allow me to vent...
Aaaaaaaaaaaaargh!
Thanks. That's better.
Cheers,
DFW
Hang in there DFW.
I think everyone who has a connection to the trust deed process understands that things are bound to be a little up and down for self-employed persons.
Hopefully this month is shaping up to be a good one for you?
Thank you TDA - as ever, you are the voice of reason.
It's a little early to say how this month is shaping up yet. The chances are that things will even out (as they always seems to do) and that the payment I missed will suddenly be affordable sometime this month. If I've got it then it will get paid right in.
I've done what I can. I've been honest with my trustee and written to them as soon as I knew for sure there would be a problem. And I made it very clear how commited I am to the success of the process.
My trustee (one of the site sponsors) have been brilliantly flexible so far so I'm hoping that they will cut me a little more slack!
Watch this space.
Cheers,
