I was wondering, if (sorry, when) I ever reach the point where I've 6 months to the end of my trust deed is there any right to pay it off early should a family member be willing, or is it up to the provider? Just wondering if it is something that could be relied on?

Hi TimeLord.

On older trust deeds there is no right, but you could put an offer to your trustee at any point in time. The trustee will use their discretion. Some seem to be more open to this than others, but they should all put the interests of creditors first.

On newer trust deeds I believe they must run for a minimum of four years unless the creditors are to be fully repaid.

Hi Timelord,

That's exactly what I did, 6 months before my 3 year TD was to expire I requested to pay the remaining 6 payments up front, this was gladly accepted by my TD company.
