Hope someone can please help me, I am going through my first year review and have a couple of questions:-

1. I have 2 dogs and pay insurance for them on a monthly basis, is this fair to be included in my expenditure
2. Food - food bills are just really expensive, can this amount be changed from what was on last years expenditure?
3. My wages fluctuate from month to month and when i set up the TD they took the highest amount yet on a couple of months I have earned ?ú200-?ú300 less and have struggled, how can they justify what the level of my income is on a monthly basis when this changes throughout the winter months?
4. Dental - again, TD company advised that dental treatment was a luxury - is this the case for fillings in my teeth and not cosmetic work?

Thanks in advance for any help.

1) the dogs is something which has confussed people for years but in fact it is simple and the answer is yes,it is fair to included dog expenses because after all the dog is part of the family and is also an expeniture

2)it can be changed but only by getting the better deals and maybe finding better ways of using food for example cooking from fresh and freezing any left overs

3)the best way to find out your income is to take the average and offer that amount if the fluctuation is so great that it sstill doesn't work out then offer to change the amount paid every 3-6 months

4)no, just plain no, the fact is that dental is no a luxury unless it is purely cosmetic but if it is health i.e fillings then no this is a basic necessity

I hope this helps.

Hi Pictsi and welcome to the forum.

Debt advisors, trust deed companies and creditors tend to work from a set of expenditure guidelines that are commonly agreed to be fair to all parties.

They were recently reviewed and allowable food expenditure has increased a little to account for the food inflation we have all seen. Therefore it seems reasonable for an increase to be allowable here.

There is also a modest amount that can be set aside to cover the cost of pets.

I agree with stephen10 (welcome to you as well stephen10) that an average of your income should be used.

Some dental expenditure should be allowable though I agree that cosmetic work probably should fall outside of that.

If these changes were to go ahead what would the effect be on the amount you would pay each month compared to how much you have been paying so far?
