Hi. Just wondering what anybody does about hiring a rental car. I'm going on holiday and want to rent a car and although it will be paid for on the internet by debit card, i need to give them a credit card when i collect it. I dont have a credit card and they don't take debit cards. Anyone been in this situation?

Hi Dollar.

Have you asked them if they'll accept a prepaid credit card? You should be able to get hold of one of these pretty easily, though they might expect a certain amount of funds to be available on the card.

Dollar

I mentioned this on another topic-try searching 'prepaid mastercard' I was approved in minutes and the card took less than a week to arrive. Depends how far in the future the holiday is?
'cashplus' is the issuer I used and had no probs with hire car.

I used my debit card to hire a car with National, there was no need for a credit card but they held a £200 deposit on debit card until car was returned and then refunded this. Was really impressed with them.

I used Alamo, 4 times now and no problem. Think they may be under'National'
