Whilst using the Register of Insolvencies this morning I thought it would be useful for people to know how long their details will remain on the register for after they have been discharged as i've seen this question being asked on the forum from time to time.

The following information is from the FAQ section of the website:

How long is information available on the Register of Insolvencies?

ÔÇó Information regarding sequestrations is available from the Register of Insolvencies for 2 years following the discharge of the trustee.

ÔÇó Information regarding protected trust deeds is available from the Register of Insolvencies for 1 year following the date of the trustees discharge.

ÔÇó Information regarding advertised notices of trust deeds is available on the Register of Insolvencies for 5 weeks from the date of advertisement. If the trust deed gains protected status, the notice will be removed and the protected trust deed will be advertised, as detailed above.

ÔÇó Information regarding corporate insolvencies is available from the Register of Insolvencies for 1 year following the discharge of the liquidator or receiver.

Thanks for taking the time to share that David.

It is a question that has come up here a few times and it will be useful to be able to refer to this thread in the future when it does again.

The key point seems to be that it's the trustee's discharge that is relevant to the Register of Insolvencies entry rather than the debtor's (or ex-debtor at that point).

Of course, the debtor's discharge is also recorded on the file so would be apparent if it needed to be pointed out for any reason.
