Hi
I've just been made redundant. As soon as I knew it was a possibility I contacted my Trustee who said I should cancel my S/O as payments to my TD will be suspended until I find another job. I live in a remote area, not a lot of jobs around at the moment and I doubt I will get anything that paid the same amount. I've had an interview and fingers crossed I'll get the job, but the pay would be at least £3000 a year less than what I was on. What will happen to my TD if I can't find a job paying the same amount?

Hi saabrina.

I'm sorry to hear that's happened.

What is your current monthly payment?

How much do you think you could pay if you get this job?

Hi TDA, thanks for replying.
My current payment is £220/month. The new job would be £250 less per month,so can't see how I could keep up anything like the agreed payment

If this were to happen saabrina your trustee may have to make a decision.

We've heard of cases where the trust deed has been brought to an end with the individual left with their debts.

We've also heard that some trust deed firms consider it inappropriate to see someone penalised due to a change of circumstances that was out of their control. In these instances the individual may be discharged from their trust deed and their debts.

You may wish to contact your trustee to judge how they might handle such a scenario.
