Hi all
Havent been on here for ages, cant seem to find any update on the re-opening of TDs for ppi....can anyone give an update on whats happening or were to find out thanks:)
The Supreme Court granted permission to appeal. It's been mentioned in a couple of threads on here, but I don't know offhand which ones.
It's also on the Supreme Court website, on the list of 'Permission to Appeal' applications for March to May 2017. It quite simply quotes the name of the case and says 'Granted 12 Apr 2017'.
The list was published on the Supreme Court website quite some time after 12 Apr 2017, and the experts had already given readers of this site a heads-up that they had seen it mentioned - on a Twitter feed, I think. Not that they got a lot of thanks for having shared the information.
There is nothing on the Supreme Court website to say when the appeal will be heard, and the court is in recess anyway until 2 October 2017.
If people are interested in trying to figure out how long it might take until the case is heard, they could try looking at the dates of recent hearings, and then try to find when those cases were granted permission to appeal. It might give a rough timescale, it might not.
Hi littlemo,
I’ve not heard any more about the issue other than what is posted on the forum in relation to the re-opening of Trust Deed’s for PPI.
In a similar scenario with the re-opening of cases but under a Sequestration, Sheriff Deutsch refused the application of a former Trustee to re-open a Sequestration for PPI funds of £2,817.91 of funds as the former Trustee couldn’t show that creditors would benefit from this as no claims had been received in the Sequestration.
I think we will need to wait on the outcome of the Supreme Court appeal.
