Hi kdog7,

It should remain for 1 year after your Trustees discharge then fall off.

How long does it usually take a trustee to be discharged from the trust deed? I was discharged in March 2014 yet my trustee was only discharged January 2017. Is this normal time scales?

It's just when their work is done Suits2017.

If a bank frustrated all reasonable efforts to recover PPI that should be refunded for years then the trustee discharge could take years.

There's no useful "normal" or "average" period of time we could provide.

Your own discharge is vastly more important.

Hi Suits2017,

There is no set timescale in relation to the discharge of the Trustee but the main delay has been the whole issue of PPI and how badly this has been handled by the banks.

Before a Trustee can close off a Trust Deed they need to be satisfied that they have investigated all possible assets and ingathered all funds available.

Ideally Trustees want to close off a Trust Deed as quickly as possible but like I said, the whole issue of PPI has caused massive delays in the closure of thousands of Trust Deeds across the whole sector.
