Hi..I need some advice. My oh and I have a joint bank account plus our own separate accounts, all with the same bank. My husband wants to switch the joint account to the nationwide with whom I had a credit card with. My husband knows nothing of my TD (major stress). I'm assuming I will not be allowed as a joint holder and trying to figure out a way of my husband having the account himself but can't.
Any advice appreciated.
Hi SunnyM.
I think you're probably correct that Nationwide would not consider you for any account other than their basic account, and that they might not be prepared to offer that account to you either.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by finding a way for your husband to have the account himself. Would you mind expanding a little?
Hi..thanks for responding. Yes, probably haven't explained myself. I'm trying to find an excuse as to why I don't want my name on a joint account without him being suspicious. I don't know whether he can have two accounts i.e. A current account for him and another for all the bills with me transferring my share every month.
It's usually possible to have two current accounts.
I know plenty of people who operate two individual current accounts (at the same bank) with one being used generally and the other more specifically for household bills.
Thanks so much for your response. Feel really bad at all this deceit but I cannot tell my oh. Just going to have to try and persuade him it should be in his name only.
