Hi there, just a quick one. I started my TD back in March 2009 with a total debt of £10000. I had equity in my house of £2500. Until April last year I paid back £150 per month = £7000, then in April £9000 PPI claim. This all went to the co arranged by my trustee. I've not heard anything from my trustee despite chasing them for an update up until July last year. Would it be unreasonable for me to start putting pressure on them now for an update on the discharge? I felt in July when I asked for updates that I was bothering them, I was considering going straight to the trustee, who's names at the bottom of all previous correspondence instead of the people I usually deal with!! Would this help or cause more delays?

Thanks

Hi Ann.

You're perfectly entitled to request an update.

You're perfectly entitled to approach your trustee directly.

I'd have thought that's more likely to have positive rather than negative consequences.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Is this a usual amount of time for these things to happen?

If you've completed your obligations I'm not sure why your discharge would be held up at all Ann.

Hopefully they can update you regarding the current status.

Hi Ann,

Don't feel bad about picking up the phone to your Trustee to ask for an update or about putting pressure on them with regards to your discharge.

It could be possible that your Trustee is still investigating some PPI claims which is why your case hasn't yet been fully discharged.

If you have met all of your obligations and paid what you had agreed to then I see no reason why you can't be discharged and receive your Form 5 certificate (which is your discharge certificate).

Let us know how you get on.
