Hello,

I was discharged from my trust deed in 2012 and everything is going really well financially. My credit file cleared up within 4 months of discharge, I got a mortgage and credit card and all is well.

My only question relates to PPI claims. These were not part of my Trust deed and now I have been contacted asking if I want to claim. I have been reluctant as I thought it meant my old creditors might decline as I only paid part of the debt off. Any ideas?

Cheers

Hi lenovo.

There's nothing to stop you from making a claim if you choose to. Some banks may object, others not. There's good guides and template letters on Which? and MoneySavingExpert.

I'd strongly advise you against using a commercial claims agency to run the claims for you though. There's a risk of ending up with a bill and no money.

Hi lenovo,

It's good to hear that things have improved for you since you completed your Trust Deed and you are now in a better place financially.

There is no harm in applying to see if you can receive any PPI refund. Someone on the forum recently tried to reclaim PPI and was successful after completing their Trust Deed so it's worth a shot.

If you do apply let us know how you get on.

Hi.

I'm not sure whether the member to member direct message function is working. Some members have said it isn't in the past and it isn't a function that we choose to put any maintenance time into.
