Hi

I have been out of my trust deed almost a year now and am hoping to build up my credit rating over the next few years. I created an equifax account and had a look through my file. I can see that I have three defaults and this message 'You've more than one credit agreement registered at a previous address that is currently two or more payments in arrears' - should this be on my file? I understand that defaults remain on your account for 6 years but the companies I am in default with are debt collection agencies (the actual creditors have settled my accounts) so I feel like it's unfair they're on my file and still remain unsettled considering the agreement I entered into by signing a trust deed (never missed a payment by the way!). Is there anything I can do, can I get them removed by showing them proof I was and am now out of my trust deed? The companies are max recovery and PRA group.

Another question is about the defaults. It says they were added when I stopped paying and I entered into the trust deed which makes sense but it also states they were updated, one as recent as this year. Will this affect anything, for example, will they still fall off my credit report 6 years from the earlier date or will they be on my file even longer?

Many thanks in advance!

Ella

Bottom line is that your credit file should reflect the fact that you no longer owe anything to these creditors as your liability for the debts was discharged when you completed your Trust Deed. You should contact them and request that they update your credit file accordingly, sending them a copy of your Form 5 discharge certificate if necessary.
