These people are the rudest pushiest people I've ever come across! [:(!] Another barrage of calls over the weekend for both me and hubby. I normally ignore them but decided to take one of the calls yesterday - explained the situation blah blah and told them not to call me anymore. They called me again this morning. The chap was so patronising, I basically told him to burger off and stop calling me, hung up and have blocked their number. I feel a bit sick because I hate being spoken to like I'm an idiot. And I hate being rude to people who are only doing their job.
No advice required - just having a rant [:D]

They are only doing their job and you're only living your life.
You have no obligation to speak to anyone on the phone and certainly not to entertain rude and abusive people. If you do get into a call, Ask for them to put any information or request in writing as you prefer to have everything recorded.

We too had unbelieveable problems with Mercers to the point that we ended up changing our phone number just to get some peace.
Then they started sending lots of letters which we passed on to our insolvency practitioner. I made a complaint about them which was passed on and dealt with. awful people!!!! Feel free to rant. XXX

I would love to get the phone number of the head honcho of Mercers and call them constantly. I had various responses from them but like you ended up ignoring them. They've clearly went to the 'but why!' school of customer services. My kid isn't even that annoying on a long journey.
Treat them with the contempt they deserve.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!

Thanks guys, I feel much better! It was the way this chap kept saying "Now Pamela, listen to me" - No. You listen to me, you prissy little twit!

A quick check on Google or the like will reveal that Mercers do have previous on these tactics. But don't forget ÔÇô they are NOT there to help you but to put the squeeze on you to release funds to them. Bad debt is their business ÔÇô they actually BUY the debt from the very people who use this forum/move onto PTD etc so they do not give monkeys about personal circumstances/other creditors etc. They scour the likes of the Edinburgh Gazete/AiB website for newÔÇØcustomersÔÇØ.
There seem to be some instances where they actually offer the likes of you and me even MORE money to consolidate our debts ÔÇô and no doubt the rates will hardly be in our favour.
They exist simply to make even more money from those who have got themselves into a difficult financial position. Think about that the next time they call!

Pammy from the sounds of it you have had a hell of a morning.
Sounds like you defently gave that partronising little man a run for his money and gave him what for. Good for you! Some companies out there just take it too far thinking people will bow down to there demands. You shouldn't have to put up with this. xx
