Hi,

I'm in a PTD and was just wondering if it is ok to upgrade my mobile phone - or will that be classed as an application for credit? I've had my current mobile deal for around 2 years and could be doing with updating the phone as it's getting a bit slow and the battery charge is running down very quickly now.. it's an iphone so you can't replace the battery.

Can I go ahead and upgrade to something newer, or is that considered to be an application for credit (which I believe it not allowed during the TD)?

Cheers,

Hello dp1973.

A trust deed doesn't prevent you from making applications for credit so there should be no problem with seeking this phone upgrade.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply - I'm sure my TD paperwork says in it that I am not allowed to apply for credit..??

Hi again.

I wouldn't have thought so, but by all means check it for your own reassurance dp1973.

Usually (with 02) when you get an upgrade there is NO credit check - I'm had 2 upgrades during my PTD and not once have they checked or declined me.

I have been with orange for a number of years and have upgraded my contract without problem throughout the trust deed, I have also had no problem adding a phone for my husband to my account. I wonder if this is because i was a customer before i started my trust deed and made every payment. I dont think upgrading is a problem but if its a new company the worst that can happen is you get told no and have to use pay as go.

g giles
