How long should it take before you stop getting phone calls from crediters. I signed my trust deed on the 14th April and keep getting phone calls from Santandar looking for payment and when i tell them that i have signed a Trust deed they don't seem to know what it is and dispite me giving them the name and contact number of my trustee (as instructed by my trustee) i still keep getting phone calls up to 4 per day sometimes straight after one another. I have received the letter for my reference that is sent out to my list of creditors so they should have received it by now. Durring the last call i was told to phone there debt managment department to sort out a repayment plan i gave up at this point and put the phone down.

Don't worry we've all been there. It just takes time for it to filter through the system. It doesn't really matter what the people at the other end of the phone know or don't know - they're simply doing a job.
There are a lot of "phone call" threads so the "search" facility on the forum will help you here. Here's my own story which includes information about calls:

I hope it helps to put your mind at rest.

Hello sunflower1.
As always DebtFreeWannabee makes some very sensible points and the forum link provided is certainly an interesting one.
Perhaps when you next get a call you could ask for a fax number for the department that is calling you. You could then ask your trust deed provider to fax them with details of your case and to ask them to cease making calls immediately.
It sounds to me like you're suffering this hassle because one Santander department hasn't told another what is going on. Hopefully with a little help this can be put right soon.
It might be a wee bit soon for this one based on what we've been saying about it taking time to filter through the system. I'd probably save these big guns until after protection with creditors who are dragging their heels when everyone else has moved on.
I found the most effective way to stop persistent creditors calling was to write and fax their complaints department. Apparently they're duty bound to take action and respond within a certain timeframe. When I did it, it worked pretty much instantly.
The bottom line is, they're really just going through the motions while the thing works through the system and that does happen eventually.
Everything about this whole process takes longer than you think it will so allow patience and peace of mind to replace your worry and stress!
Thank you DFW for your advice i will try to stop stressing out and wait for my protected trust deed to come through. Great idea to ask for fax number will try this. It is reasuring to know in these stressful times that their are people like yourself that have been through what you are going through now.
Thank you

I paid a couple of pound each month to BT to block regular callers, i only did it for about three months and you can block if i remember ten calls at a time, your given a pin so you can add and change numbers whenever you want with the sevice and it was well worth it. i did not want a relative or my children answering calls that might leave me having very difficult conversations. every time someone called i justed added that number and when i phoned to cancel the service three months later everything must have been sorted with the companys as phonecalls stopped. if nothing else it was great when that phone stopped ringing.

Tips while your waiting for your trust deed
1. during the day turn off the ringer on the phone
2. get caller id so you can see who is ringing
The phone calls do stop, just takes time
...or get a "blocker" box. We did and it was great.
Remember that these people are calling simply because your TD hasn't filtered through their system yet.
Even if you wanted to, you're not allowed to pay them so there's no real pressure, only what's going on in your head which is worse!
.....Thank you
I am a bit less stressed now.
