Could I ask what the status of my work pension is after I'm discharged? In years to come could there be a claim made on any lump sum?

Hi gaelforce.

We've never seen that happen and I can't see how that could happen.

The potential issue might be drawing a pension lump sum prior to your discharge - but that's not what you're describing.

I guess if the trustee remained in office (even if you've been discharged) you could choose to be very cautious and ask for their confirmation in advance that taking a pension lump sum wouldn't cause any problems.

Thank you TDA. I think I got the wrong end of the stick about a situation which came under English law anyway.
