I entered into a Trust Deed in December 2017. My bank account was officially closed on 10th January 2018 as there was an overdraft on it included in the trust deed
My friend has now recently paid Money into my old bank account (I hadn’t given her my new details and she had these ones on file and used them)
The payment hasn’t bounced back to her and I have contacted the bank where I had my closed account and they have advised it should have as the account was closed. Her bank have now put a trace on the payment.
Have I lost this payment or will it be returned to my friends account in due course?

I would imagine if the account was closed then the bank should not have accepted the payment. You should contact them and ask about it. As it wasn’t your money I don’t see how they can keep it.

It sounds like this should work out OK.
One way or another I'd expect these funds to reach you at some point.
