Hi all.

I'm hoping someone can help. My trust deed ends in June however my mum wants to pay it off for me as I have just had a baby and soon be on mat pay. When I phoned up to enquire about balance I was told I would be discharged however the company would not be discharging themselves until June as they will be investigating pip claims. Is this right or should they be discharged same time as me when amount paid??

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum Moonfairy87 and congratulations on your recent arrival.

They actually don't have to agree to accept an early settlement or discharge you early, so it's good that they're prepared to do this for you.

You can be discharged when you complete your obligations. Your trustee can be discharged when they've completed theirs. One of your trustee's obligations is to investigate whether PPI claims could help to repay more to your creditors. They need to do this work before discharging themselves.

As such, what they're suggesting doesn't seem unreasonable.
