When we entered our trust deeds, my wife was gutted that she'd have to give up her Next Directory account. She used it mainly for kids stuff - school shoes, trousers and the like.
Everything on the Next web site suggests they will automatically open a credit account for you when you place an order.
However, after some sleuthing, I discovered that you can have a cash account and just pay with a credit or debit card online. No credit account will be opened.
Here's how you do it. You need to order something.
1. Visit the Next site and put something in your basket.
2. Click checkout.
3. If you have an old credit account with them, don't log in. Instead register for a new account. You need to put in your name, address, email address and create a password etc.
4. On the next page you'll be asked if you want free delivery and a directory or pay ?ú3.99 for delivery and get no directory.
IMPORTANT
It's the ?ú3.99 / no directory option that represents the "non credit" account so that's the option you need to choose.

5. On the next page, they'll say that they can't open a credit account for you (which is actually just because you chose the "no directory" option) and invite you to pay for your shopping by credit or debit card.
6. Complete the payment.
You now have a Next Directory cash account. When you want to order in future, login with the email address and password you registered. You'll now go straight to the card payment page whenever you checkout and nothing will be added to a credit account.
I phoned Next customer services to ask if it's possible to get a Directory when you have a cash account. They said no however you can browse and shop from the website.
I hope that helps.
