Help!!!...I've signed a PTD last week and I seem to be getting phone calls and letters from creditors non stop just now. Can anyone give me any clues as to when it will all settle down?
Thanks

Wecome to the trust deed forum ElizaS.
I'm sure some of our members may share their personal experience of this.
The main thing to say is do not worry about this too much. You can provide contact details for your Trustee and politely explain that you will not be talking to the caller any further. Then just hang-up. With letters you may wish to forward them to your trust deed provider, and especially so if they include any kind of credible legal threat.
It will pass.
ElizaS.....
In my case I only got a few phone calls and as TDA said, I would just politely advise them that I had signed a Trust Deed and would then pass them the details of my Trustee asking them to contact him. That would usually stop them calling for at least a couple of weeks, and in the main all my calls sopped within 6-8 weeks of signing my PTD, with the exception of Barclays which took a good few months.....
All I would say is when they call don't panic, be polite advise them of trust deed and trustee details and don't get involved in any discussions with them...
Good Luck.....
ElizaS,
I wouldnt worry it was the same for me, id just send letters to your trustee and when they phone id just say id signed TD and its out of my hands and give them your trustee contact details. I actually found some of my creditors were really nice when i told them beleive it or not with some saying good luck etc.
All the best.
hi i signed my trust deed five weeks ago and am waiting to hopefully hear that it is now protected (any day now) I have had one person at my door but he was informed that i had signed trust deed and given name of trustee, he told me i shouldn't hear from him again. I've not had any calls and will be forwarding any letters to my trustee.
It depends who your creditors are. Lloyds TSB wrote to me saying they'd received the info and wouldn't be contacting me again. Cahoot and Barclaycard kept the annoyance up for ages, as did MBNA. If it bothers you, put your phone on silent or have it go direct to answer machine. If it's someone you want to talk to then call them back. If and when your debt gets 'sold on', you'll get other phone calls. You may also get cards saying that they'll come to your house. Forward all this to your trustee. Debt collectors cannot access your home so don't let them in. As I've said before, for the first few months, I kept all the correspondence from creditors and once a week, posted it all to my trustee. Always talk to your trustee and if you stick to the conditions, creditors can't touch you as once it's protected, they're bound by it.
Nothing left to discharge - everything's done and dusted!
Ignore them.
Phone calls - let them know that if they continue to telephone you can report them for harassment under the telecomms act.
Letters - rip them up and put them in the bin. You aren't dealing with them anymore, your trustee is and receiving a decent fee as well.
i signed mine three weeks ago and went to advert today. calls getting less as are letters however a company called albion collections are a real pain. they send stuff almost on a daily basis and call regularly.doesnt matter how much i tell them they still call back. trustee has also contacted them. no doubt they will eventualy get the message .i think next time they call i will simply tell them i am not speking to them and hang up...happy days!!!
I got a letter from my Trustee this morning confirming that my TD was now protected. It also said that creditors are now bound by the terms and conditions and that they must not seek to recover any of the debt that is owed prior to the date of signing the trust deed. I'm looking forward to my next phone call lol. Not that I've had many mind you, most people have accepted what I told them previously. RBS have been funny mind you, they haven't called me once.
