Hi my trust deed just got advertised on 27.4.18. I had opened a new account with Santander and I have arranged to have all my direct debits come out of that account as well as having my wage paid in.
I think I have opened the wrong type of account and I am worried that this will be closed once they find out I have a trust deed. The account is an ‘everyday current account’ which I have chosen not to have an overdraft on for obvious reasons. I feel like I should have maybe chosen the basic current account but i was not given any advice on what type of account to apply for at the time.
Has anyone else had an every day account with Santander and experienced any problems? I’m growing increasingly worried that the account might close meaning I don’t have access to my money to pay my rent and other bills. It has been a hassle asking my employer to change my account details to pay my wages as they have strict cut offs for providing new bank details(cut off is 3 weeks before payday) which I find ridiculous!!
Any help would be much appreciated as I tried asking Santander on the phone and the customer service guy had no clue what I was on about!
Thanks
Ps. Should have mentioned I don’t have any debt with Santander
We chose Santander as our bank in the beginning of our TD.
Had zero problems and upgraded to a 123 account during the TD, we also had no debt with them.
I wouldn't worry unless things have changed dramatically with them.
All the best the end will be in sight before you know it.

Welcome to the forum Ksm00009.
As twizzle has experienced, this may well not cause you any kind of problem.
If you want to be further reassured though it might be worthwhile contacting the bank and asking them to convert the account to their basic account.
This wouldn't usually result in any change to your sort code or account number (so no hassle with your employer).
Hi
Thankyou both for your replies. My mind has been put at ease a bit now. I think I’ll nip into the branch on my day off and have a chat with them.
Thanks again
Hi Ksm00009.
I think it's wise to reassure yourself on this.
You may find that the branch staff have little knowledge about the detail of this and need to refer it elsewhere for an answer. It might be the case that you can resolve the matter quicker if there's a contact centre that you can call into.
Hi Ksm00009
In my experience as long as you do not have debt with Santander or have taken out an overdraft then I do not foresee a problem.
Please let us know how you get on with the bank but I think it should be ok
