Hi iam looking for some advice. My husband an I are i have been in trust deeds since 2011.Unfortuately my son has become ill he's only 10 and is now entitled to dla and we het a disability payment on our tax credits for him.Iam also entitled to carers allowence as iam already a full time mum to him and our other children.I would like to ask how our trustee will view this as it ia a lot of extra money although we do need it to care for our son.The extra benefits have made this much easier for our family to cope with this change and I would hate to loose this due to our trusteeds.Any advice would be great.thankyou .

Hi Lady jane and welcome.

The level of payments due to your trust deeds will continue to be based upon affordability.

An increase in income might therefore lead to an increase in the required contribution.

However, DLA is paid to cover the extra costs associated with a condition. When you inform your trustee about the extra income be ready to itemise these extra costs as well.

Often this will result in the two things cancelling each other out.
