Hi there,

Iโm struggling.. My partner and I have just been refused a mortgage by NatWest due to an account with RBS being written off in 2017. This was included in the trust deed. Is there anything we can do?
Hi Mortgageblues. From past experience NatWest tend not to be that flexible or sympathetic regarding previous debt issues. Try Nationwide, they were very understanding of my situation and circumstances regarding my Trust Deed and I have now been with them for 15 years. They also have some of the best current and savings accounts, and importantly, they are a mutual Building Society so they are not profit driven! Hope this helps.
best advice I would say is go to mortgage[:)] broker/financial advisor what I did no probs took a while but I was upfront with them went ok
Welcome to the forum Mortgageblues.
I don't think the High Street lenders are the best place for you to start. They have less appetite for perceived risk than other lenders you may not have heard about.
A mortgage broker can access these other lenders for you to see if they have a product that meets your needs.
There's a section on getting a mortgage after a trust deed at this page:
Hi
They may have knocked you back anyway as you are higher risk. However, Natwest is part of the RBS Group so they may well be less likely to lend due to unpaid debts within the Group.
