Hi there.
It's 7 years since I started my trust deed.I finished it 4 years ago.I've managed to get my experian credit rating to excellent.I've now decoded to try get a mortgage soon so i went to a mortgage broker.I didn't let the broker know about the trust deed as as far as I'm aware nobody can tell I was ever in one as it's now over 6years since it started.
I ended up get a soft mortgage offer from the Halifax,Halifax being the main bank that I owed money to at the time.
Would it be okay to take a mortgage with them?

Hi Martin984.

I guess it's absolutely fine not to tell your mortgage broker about your previous trust deed so long as you weren't asked about this subject.

There will still be a record of your trust deed on the Edinburgh Gazette (which doesn't apply to new trust deeds now) so if someone went looking they could find out about it. Lenders might also have kept their own records of insolvencies in general or insolvencies involving their own customers.

There's no issue with obtaining a mortgage from Halifax provided that they are happy to provide one to you.

Hi, my husband is in a similar position re passage of time. I was wondering if your mortgage offer was still given at full application stage? We are looking to apply.
