Just looking for other peoples personal experiences of getting a mortgage after being in a trust deed.

We're in the final year of our trust deed which is due to end September 2019.

Trying to find concrete info on accessibility to a mortgage afterwards is a bit sketchy.

Any info people have is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum John.

Hopefully some people with personal experience of this will see your question and share their thoughts with you.

Mortgage conditions and products change over time, so the information that's out there can seem confusing.

Most recently here we've heard of just a couple of small lenders who will consider a mortgage application a year after someone has been discharged.

Other lenders seem to have lending conditions that require a longer period to have elapsed before they're prepared to lend.

Are you looking to purchase a new home, or to find a new mortgage for an existing home?

We're probably looking for somewhere bigger than where we are.

3 kids in a 2 bedroom house isn't doable any more.

Presumably then you'd need a larger mortgage than the one that you currently have?

Hi John,

A light at the end of the tunnel... I myself had a trust deed and I was discharged in FEB 2018. I was approved for my mortgage by Scotwest at 90% LTV in November 2018. I completed in December and I am now a new HOME OWNER!

Scotwest credit union are amazing, they are thourough with their checks of documents; paylsips, bank statements, savings but are so helpful. They only use certain mortgage brokers... I can ceratinly recommend the one I used.

Glasgow credit Union will also offer a 85%LTV I am told.

I hope this helps, I know the journey is tough but you are so close!
