Sorry for yet another topic!

My wife and I are now looking to possibly purchase our council house. My TD finished in July and we would qualify for 25% discount (or £15,000 whichever is greater).

Two questions ÔÇô the possibility of actually getting a mortgage after a TD and are there products that allow equity release, as we will have our discount ( as opposed to needing a large deposit?)

Hi tinsoldier.

Specific questions regarding the detail of mortgages (like using the discount in lieu of a deposit) are outside of the competence of the experts here.

I'll email Graeme Leckie (a mortgage broker who has posted here from time to time) to see if he can add some more information to this thread but I'm not sure if he is around at the moment.

There are a lot of factors connected to whether or not the mortgage you want will be available to you, with the trust deed being just one of them. You'd therefore probably be best to organise speaking with a mortgage broker directly so they can run through everything with you and compare your needs and circumstances to current mortgage availability.
