Hi my husband and I are now 6 years and 1 day since commencement of out PTD, we are hoping to move house now that this should be off our credit file. Can anyone recommend a mortgage broker that can help us with this or advise where we stand now. This day has been a long time coming and we just want to move on with our lives.

Hi Mandy75.

Our thoughts on this subject can be read here:

We can't recommend a mortgage broker in particular, but others might choose to. Speaking with a mortgage broker is the best starting point.

Lenders are free to ask about previous trust deeds in your application so the fact that it's not on your credit report doesn't make it undiscoverable.

Lenders can also set criteria about how long someone needs to have been discharged from an insolvency before they'll lend on a particular product. Brokers should know when these apply with particular lenders.

On a more positive note, we've heard from plenty of people who have obtained mortgages a couple of years after completing a trust deed.

Thank you for the reply. Checked my credit reports which all looked good except now I have found Equifax mis reporting my Trust Deed still there at 73 months and a wrong default date that is showing correctly with call credit and experian. How can this happen? Supposed to be attempting to get a mortgage in principle this week, should this not be corrected quickly as the fault lies with Equifax? Thanks in advance for any advice on getting this sorted promptly.

They should correct the information for you Mandy75, though I have no idea how quickly that will happen. Maybe you need to make your unhappiness very clear to them and they may be able to prioritise sorting it out for you?

Thank you, have already phoned and now the Financial Ombudsman is going to try phoning as I have provided evidence default was part of TD, but they are waiting on third party response, lets hope its quickly enough.

Hi

Just thought I'd pass on m experience. We have been discharged a year, our 6 6ear anniversary is coming up in November. We got a mortgage in February with Scotwest credit union with a 10% deposit. Just got our keys last week. You should try there.
