Hello I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this before.

My dad went to transfer money into an account (not for me btw) and chooseed my account that was taken over when I entered trust deed as it has an outstanding over draft. The money hasn't bounced back into his account and wondering if anyone else has encountered this and what the outcome was. I have contacted my trust deed advisor and he said the bank aren't entitled to the money.

Just if anyone else has had this would like to hear what happened

Thanks

Hi Ac1987.

This scenario has arisen here several times over the years.

From memory the funds tend to be returned, but the trustee might have to intervene to help make that happen.

Hi Ac1987,

In my experience of this the money will be in the “system” of the bank and might not have landed anywhere just yet.

Once it does and the bank are able to locate it on their system if need be the Trustee should be more than happy to help with getting these funds returned to your dad.

Something similar happened to me when I was transferring money to pay for something for my wedding. I provided the wrong details and money was paid into the wrong account. Thankfully the account details were invalid but it took me and the person involved almost 2 weeks to get the funds back.

Keep on at your bank about it. You can also ask your Dad to speak with his bank and for them to trace the funds.
