Hi
I have been viewing the forum for some months now my trust deed started last September. I am finding the budgeting a bit tough but have made all my payments to date... Now I have just been hit with a bill for my cars MOT/service £350! I had thought it would be around £150, was way out. It is Friday night now and I can't get hold of the lady who is dealing with my TD. I wondered if I could not pay this months payment in order to pay my car bill. Has anyone been able to do this or similar?
I am really worried about missing a payment but can't see what else to do.
[:(]

Hello mrshardup and welcome.

The key thing with situations like this is good communication with your trust deed provider.

Trustees are generally realistic and a solution can usually be found.

Give them a call on Monday and explain. They may want an invoice for their file to confirm this one-off expense. It's perfectly possible that they'll allow you to skip a payment and make it up at the end of the trust deed.

I know when i had a huge £400 ish repair bill for my car and a few other unexpected bills come up.. My trust deed person was quite understanding. I did call and followed up with a email what the issues were. They allowed me to add the payment to the end of the trust deed and i needed to show receipts for the work done etc.
As TDA has said:
COMMUNICATION is the key.. Always contact your contact person BEFORE you do anything.

mrshardup,

Give your case manager a call and advise them of the repair bill. They should be prepared to reduce/suspend your payment for 1 month providing you send in evidence of the repair costs.

When we meet with a client face to face before they sign a Trust Deed, we do advise that should anything unexpected crop up during the Trust Deed speak with us and we will do what we can to help.

The last thing any Trust Deed company likes is a missed payment and no communication. as Amerififer advises, communication is key.

Thanks again guys. Spoke with my case manager today and she said I could miss this month payment as long as i sent her a letter outlining the cost for car along with a copy of the invoice.
Phew!
Will need to be better at budgeting but it not so easy.
Just hoping no more nasty surprises lurking. Christmas is gonna be hard enough, although all family been told will be cheap and cheerful. (I hope).

Thanks to all.x

Well done mrshardup, and well done also to your trust deed provider for taking a reasonable balanced view about the situation.
