My TD through Wylie & Bisset completed in July 2013 but I still have smaller creditors that are refusing to update my credit file as being "satisfied". I have contacted them directly and included my TD discharge notice and also contacted them through the Credit Reference Agencies.
However, they repeatedly say that they will only update my credit file once they are paid by Wylie & Bisset. I have emails from these creditors.
I know that this is wrong but i don't know what to do next? Any suggestions? It is affecting my credit score that i'm trying to rebuild.

Hello Ianbell71 and welcome.

When we spoke to the Information Commissioner about this they were clear that you're entitled for your credit file to be updated when you are discharged (rather than when your creditors are paid).

I'd make a formal complaint to each of the creditors involved.

Give them a reasonable amount of time to deal with the complaint, but take it to the Information Commissioner thereafter if it isn't dealt with.

I have heard David Tannock mention about the Information Commissioner. IS there a specific address or email address to contact this office to raise my concerns? Is there anything in particular that I need to inform them of?

Hi Ian.

You may well be aware already, but the Information Commissioner has responsibility for UK data protection law. You're entitled to your data being properly protected and more importantly (in this instance) being accurate.

Their website is ico.org.uk and on the contact page you'll find details of their helpline and contact email address.

You might want to have a read of this article in advance of getting in touch:
