Hi Folks,

Can anyone point me to letter templates I can use for tidying up my credit file following discharge? - perhaps different letters for different stages e.g. 1st letter, final letter before action....

Thanks
Jengis

Hi Jengis3006.

We've never chosen to go into adding template letters on this website.

Members might be able to point you towards resources they've chosen to use or letters that have worked for them.

Hi Jengis

I googled the template letter and found one on the Moneysavingexpert website that I used. Most of the creditors I wrote to responded within a couple of weeks and updated the file but a couple ignored the letter. I found phoning them a lot more productive. Once I got through to the right department (which can take a while) the people there updated my credit file without any issue.

Glad that's over with....

I think there's a lot of sense in trying to sort things like this out over the phone.

Small sources of confusion can be dealt with there and then, rather than it potentially taking days or weeks with an exchange of letters.

When it comes to complaint handling, banks and similar financial organisations need to deal with phone notifications in the same way as written ones.

Hi Jengis3006,

If you do decide to try and deal with it over the telephone then try to keep a record of the date and time you called and the person you spoke with. That way if there are any problems or someone confirms they will fix the problem and doesn't you have details of the calls you have made and who you have spoken with to consider a complaint.
