Hi All,

We received a letter recently that our discharge is not until 2013, yet we joined in 2009, we paid our first installment in February 09. I have read over some of the paperwork, it says we would be in the trust deed for a minimum of 36 months, does this mean they can change the goal posts. We have managed just about all the payments as requested, we delayed 2 payments due to unexpected costs. We are just keen to see an end to this, it has been really tough at times. We understand this is all our own doing, but we feel we have served our time. It is sometimes very hard to be positive.

Hi lorrainek.

It cannot be changed for no reason.

Do you have a copy of the trust deed you signed? Does it say 36 months?

Do you have any extra responsibilities such as contributing for assets?

Probably worth a call to your trust deed firm to clarify the basis of the wording on this letter. Hopefully that might put your mind at rest.

Hiya,

Thanks for your reply, there was no reason given. Does it matter that the orginal paperwork says a minimum of 36 months.

I doubt it, I think it probably simply refers to a minimum in case something came up later (like a reduction in your monthly payment).

I might be wrong, but I'm hopeful that a call to your trustee tomorrow might confirm that there is nothing to worry about.
