Hi all
Just received a letter from an Edinburgh advising "we have identified that you may be entitled to the return of charges, both legal and financial that you have paid"...would this be to do with previous Trust Deed, which was paid off and cleared 4 years ago...form 5 issued...just wondering if anyone else has received such a letter?

Sounds like a fishing exercise by a company looking for business. Nothing wrong with that but you want to check what their T&C are in relation to any fees etc if you did decide to use them.

Maybe get in touch with them to find out more and then you can let us know.

Hi littlemo.

We've heard from a site visitor today about a firm in Edinburgh who contacted them dangling the prospect of a refund related to their recently completed trust deed.

We've never heard of the firm mentioned, which appears to be very new.

We don't understand on what basis such a refund might be due or achievable.

Thank you for both replies, will give them a body swerve...just annoying how they find out your details.
Am happy to forget trust deed years and move forward.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Received the same, but curious as how 'Simpson McGregor' an apparent Edinburgh firm have a return address as a PO box in Huddersfield.

After a few minutes research....
Their website is only a domain, nothing on it
A quick check, and the PO box number appears to belong to a firm of solicitors called 'Fairfax' based in Leeds, specialising in debt collection.

Wonder WTF is going on?
Anyway its in the bin!

I think with the ongoing issues of PPI in Trust Deeds, RBS and offsetting under Trust Deeds, PPI companies are jumping onto the back of this to find business. PPI is coming to an end and I suspect the PPI companies will be making one last big effort to maximise their fees.

If anyone does reach out to the companies for advice on this just make sure you clearly understand their fee structure and if you will be liable for anything.
