I made my final trust deed contribution to KPMG in April which they confirmed in writing. I have since been waiting on my discharge papers & have phoned twice and been told they will be chased up and with me within 7 days. I am still waiting. It's been such a long trust deed process I just really want it to be over officially & to move on with my life. If they keep messing me about what are the next steps I can take?

Hi bboy001.

Realistically, there's only so much you can do I'm afraid. Repeatedly following up with them and making a polite nuisance of yourself might tip the balance into making it easier just to crack on and discharge you.

You do also have the option to make a formal complaint to the firm if you wish to and felt it warranted.

Okay thanks

How long realistically should the discharge take? 3 months seems a long time

Keep at them and as TDA says you do have the right to complain should you feel the need to do so.

Shouldn't be long now though and the main thing is you have fulfilled your obligations!

Hi bboy001.

We hear that it takes anything from a few days to much much longer. All seems to depend upon which firm you use, how busy they are, and how much priority they place upon this task.

To be fair there are occasions where delays are inevitable and somewhat out of the control of the trustee. I think they're the exception though.

Hi bboy001,

Well done on reaching this point and successfully completing your Trust Deed.

My firm try and aim to provide a Form 5 discharge within 4-6 weeks of a client's final payment being made. It really can vary from firm to firm.

As TDA has advised I would make yourself a polite nuisance calling them a couple of times per week to chase it up. I'm sure if you do that it will be out in the post in no time!

Let us know how you get on and when you receive the Form 5.
