Anyone had experience of changing a joint loan to a single one? I am thinking about the future as I go off on maternity leave soon and depending on circumstances might not be able to go back to work. My husband hardly has any debt apart from the joint loan we have but I have a few things still to pay off and might need a trust deed later in the year. I don’t want my husband included in the trust deed as it’s not really his debt. This might not actually happen but just curious if the loan could be moved to my name only to be included in a trust deed should I need one?

Hi Lorryjo1983.

I doubt the existing lender will agree to take your husband's name off the loan. Having two of you liable for repayment is part of their security.

It might be possible to take out a diferent loan in your own name to repay this one I suppose, if that's what you want to do.
